Computers and Society Research Project


You will be asked to pick a topic and join a group. (Groups will have a limited number of members).

Each student should keep track of websites they have visited. Find relevant websites, create surveys, and find video and or images that might help your fellow students understand your topic.

This Project will involve 4 stages:
1. Group: Research your topic with your group members. Be sure to keep track of your resources. Make sure you save any work on a shared drive.

2. Group: You and your group prepares a 3-5 minute presentation on your chosen topic. You may use any kind of presentation software you wish in order to add clarity and interest. You may choose to produce a short skit instead of a more traditional presentation to illustrate your topic.

3. Individual: Create a poster. Use one of the themes raised by your topic area and transfer your ideas about the topic given into a visual form. Flatten all the layers (Layer / Flatten image) and Save AS a jpg. Place this file on
your teacher's S drive folder. e.g. S:\Ms Burnham\ICS20-02\Posters for WIKI Assignment

4. Individual: Create and share 2 possible exam questions and answers related to your topic. Also include a list of the resources that you used to research your topic. This is not a formal bibliography, but rather just a list.

WIKI ASSIGNMENT CHECKLIST

(Knowledge)
  • Detailed information on the topic chosen
  • Information is complete and correct and is submitted in a timely manner
  • Sample exam questions and research resources uploaded to the location designated by your teacher.
  • Sample exam questions are created, effective and on topic.
  • Resources are listed.
  • Images used for the poster are clearly accredited. From the original image page (not the google images source page)

  • Defines the problem or topic, shows examples, and explains the solutions.

Poster :
  • The student has applied their skills to create an image that is meaningful. They have transferred their ideas about the topic given into a visual form.
  • is creative, visually appealing and organized.
  • A single purpose or theme is communicated effectively to the reader.
  • appropriate size for a legal-sized poster.
  • Graphics are all in focus and the content easily viewed and identified from 1 or 2 m away.
  • Colours and patterns enhance readability.
  • Balanced, uncluttered, uses sufficient white space.
  • Uploaded in a timely manner to the correct folder or as directed by your teacher.
